What to include

If you are reporting something that went wrong, the two most useful things you can tell us are which browser and device you were using, and what you were doing just before it happened. Screenshots help a great deal. If a typing test behaved oddly, mentioning the language and duration you had selected usually narrows it down immediately.

For feature requests, tell us the problem rather than the solution — what you were trying to do, and where the site got in the way. That tends to produce a better outcome than a specification, because there is often a simpler fix than the one that comes to mind first.

Before you write

A few things come up often enough to answer here. Your scores are stored only in your browser, so they disappear if you clear your browsing data or switch device — there is no account to recover them from, by design. TypeSwift is free with no paid tier, so there is nothing to cancel or refund. And if a word list contains a mistake or a word that does not belong, please do tell us; those are fixed quickly.

For questions about how speed is measured, the how it works page covers the WPM and accuracy formulas in full. For anything about children using the site, the kids questions page answers the common ones, including exactly what data is and is not stored.

Accessibility and corrections

If any part of the site is difficult to use with a screen reader, a keyboard alone, or at high zoom, we want to know. Please say which assistive technology you use and which page was the problem. The same goes for factual corrections — if a benchmark or exam requirement quoted here is out of date, send the source and we will update it.
